Dear CCNA Members and all Children’s Cardiac Nurses working in the UK

We would like to invite you to particpate in an online survey which aims to explore children’s cardiac nursing roles in the UK.

We are aware that you may have been involved in peer reviews recently and may have already been asked for some of this information. However, the purpose of this project is to explore the implementation of key nursing roles within Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) services across the UK and whether they meet the CHD standards (NHSE 2016) and the RCN/CCNA guidance (Gaskin et al 2014). The main aim being to update the RCN/CCNA Core competency document ensuring that it is fit for purpose and fit for practice.

Secondary objectives include:

Explore nurses’ perceptions of their role

Explore the consistency of role descriptors for key roles (Lead Nurse, Nurse Educator, Nurse Specialists)

Explore the implementation of Advanced Clinical Practice roles and Consultant Nurse roles

Explore the implementation of Nurse Research roles in CHD (Reader/Professor)

Please access the questionnaire via the hyperlink below:

You will be asked to voluntarily agree to participate by completing the first mandatory consent question in the online survey.
The online questionnaire will take approximately 15 minutes to complete depending on the length of your answers. The survey will be open until 30th September 2019. We will be asking you to provide information about your job descriptor and your perception of your role, although all quesitons are optional except question 1 which asks for your consent to participate.
The participant information is available to read before you access the questionnaire. CCNA members will receive an email with details of the survey and a pdf version of the participant information leaflet, circulated on behalf of the CCNA Executive Committee.
If you have any questions please contact: Dr Kerry Gaskin, Principal Investigator, k.gaskin@worc.ac.uk
